Hi there. I… had a question, and I didn’t know where to ask, lol, so I chose this tumblr. I’ve been wanting quite a few tattoos for about six years now and have always loved ink on girls, guys, everyone. My problem is though, my father’s side of the family detests body mods of any kind (I dyed my hair and got a few ear piercings and my dad threatened to stop helping pay for college). I hate how I have to hide who I am because they don’t “like” it and it’s at the point, now that I’m eighteen, that I’m just going to do it even though it will hurt my relationship with them. I guess my real question is, if you, or any of your followers, have had this issue, how did you get your family to accept and overcome it? Sorry if this isn’t allowed, I just didn’t know where else to ask.

I saw your post on inkd girls about your rents and getting a tattoo, and unfortunately there weren’t enough letters to type out to really say what i wanted to say, so here it is. Both of my rents are very old school, strict, hispanic parents that don’t put up with bullshit. My mom though pierced ears on guys was complete bs, and meant you were gay, all that stereotypical shit. A few months ago, I got my first tattoo, behind their backs. My mom found out about it a few weeks later, and went completely ape shit on me about it, and said some real hurtful things, but a few weeks passing, and she got over it. My dad didn’t seem to take it hard at all. Keep in mind i’m 18 here as well. The way I always saw it with tattoos is, unless you’re parents absolutely hate you, there isn’t much they can do. Once you have a tattoo, that’s it. You can’t take it back, it’s on you. What can they do about it? Anyway, I’m going on and on here, best of luck, and I definitely don’t regret getting it at all, I’m really happy with it haha =)
